The manufacturer or importer can then apply for BIS certification, providing the test report, along with other required documents and fees.

Once the BIS certification is obtained, the manufacturer or importer is authorized to use the R-number on their product and packaging, indicating that the product meets the relevant Indian standards. The R-number also allows the BIS to trace the product to its manufacturer and importer, in case any issues arise with the product's quality or safety.
